Housemate syndrome?
Reconnect with your partner
Are you and your partner feeling distant? Do conversations often turn into arguments, or the silence feels too heavy? Couples counselling can help you reignite the connection you once shared.
In today’s manic world, it’s common for couples to grow apart. Life’s responsibilities can overshadow the bond you once built together. Most couples I see have come to me because they recognise they have become housemates or co-parents; they don’t feel like a couple anymore.
Couples counselling offers a sacred, dedicated space to explore your feelings, improve communication, and find connection again.
How did we get here?
It is truly unfortunate that we are simply not taught effective relationship skills that are essential for managing our partnerships in a healthy way over the long term. We tend to expect these skills to come easily and naturally, but the reality is that they don’t. Furthermore, most of us don’t have these crucial skills role-modelled to us during our formative years as children, which makes navigating relationships even more challenging. This lack of foundational knowledge can significantly impact our ability to build and maintain a fulfilling connection with our partner.
This is precisely where couples counselling can really make a significant difference in fostering understanding and improving communication within the relationship.
How does it work?
Through guided discussions and therapeutic techniques, you can uncover patterns that may be causing the disconnection. Together, we will work on understanding each other better, cultivating empathy, and rebuilding intimacy.
The process allows you to express your needs and openly address issues in a productive way. Imagine feeling heard, valued, and connected again! Couples counselling provides you with the tools to strengthen your relationship and stop drifting apart.
Some of the common relationship issues that can be addressed in couples counselling include:
Frequent conflict and arguments
Emotionally distanced couples
Couples with poor communication and inability to address problems in the relationship
Couples on the verge of separation
As a couples counsellor trained in the Gottman Method and other relationship interventions, I help partners communicate better and understand each other's views with empathy. I guide you on how to handle conflicts respectfully and peacefully, rather than just arguing. Together, we focus on rebuilding friendship, intimacy, and shared goals to strengthen your partnership.
If you're ready to improve your relationship, I’m here to help.
